Lyken - The Terrestrial Sea (EP)

Lyken

The results of an Artist Residence in the summer of 2012 where Lyken worked alongside Marine Biologists to produce a responsive, site specific installation. ‘The Terrestrial Sea’ is the audio component and soundtrack to Mark Lyken’s installation of the same name composed and recorded at the Cromarty Lighthouse at the University of Aberdeen Lighthouse Field Station in the Black Isle. Set across four separate piece of sound and just over 20 minutes, the sounds oscillate with brooding electronic regret and droning ambience. Dip!

Vcheka - Vcheka (LP)

Vcheka

Put perfectly by the folks at Bleep.com - Avant-garde jazz-rock from Glaswegian’s Vcheka and their debut album for the Gamma Proforma imprint. With a sense of art-pop ambience, the band channel the sounds of the jazz greats, moving with smooth, free-form liquidity, throwing in Japanese spoken word vocals and crashing walls of percussion and on-point guitar rhythms. Phil Ashcroft

Phil Ashcroft twists time and space through piercing shards. The paint almost tears the canvas there's so much weight and intensity! Combining influences from abstract expressionism, British landscape painting, Japanese woodcuts, and graphic street art, Phil's work integrates varied visual styles to generate a crossover between space, object and environment.
