It's Elph, Edinburgh's number one son! The city is embellished with his slant on life and culture, in bars, clubs, walls et al. His down to earth nature, can do attitude and general humility make him a much loved character locally and in the UK graf scene. Taking part in events across the country and further afield, he's built a worthy rep.
Elph started writing graffiti around Edinburgh in 1989 after finding a copy of Subway Art whilst accompanying a friend on a Role Playing Game Book thieving mission. Already inspired by comic books and Lord of the Rings, another world of adventure opened up.
Consuming all the imagery he could find, Zap Comics, Heavy Metal and Juxtapoz fed his 'visual addiction'. Studying at the Mie One School of Letters, followed by a course in Illustration and a career in graphic design, not to mention all that anime and manga that fed the eyeballs. That said he's keen to point out his "inspiration is wide".
It didn't take long for his talent to end up on club flyers, streetwear storefronts and the walls of the discerning. Joining the Many Styles crew in 1994 and founding Los Vampyrs in 1998, Elph continues to draw, paint and play with type as much as he can.
Keep on it, cause the man doesn't sleep!
