Limited Edition A2 (420mm x 594mm) Lithographic Print on 200gsm Elemental Chlorine Free FSC Certified Pulp - £25.00
Cult comic hero Paul Pope steps up for our latest print release with 'Nurias', a dazzling urban styler! The New York based artist/DJ is probably the best equipped man alive to deliver such a piece!
Pope kicked off his career back in the mid nineties when he self-published to wide spread acclaim. A true creative force, he's managed to carve out a place for himself beyond the traditional world of comics. An edgy individual with his own brand of illustration with attitude, style just drips from the page.
Pope's first graphic novel, Sin Titulo, was published in 1993 and immediately drew considerable attention. He followed it with The Ballad of Dr. Richardson, an urban romance, drawn in a stark, expressionistic black-and-white brushline. Ballad was nominated for several major comics awards, and established Paul as one of the brightest new stars in the world of comics.
His next project, THB, an exuberantly surrealistic 400-page graphic novel, was the largest monthly comic-book ever produced and published in America.
Pope's projects include The One-Trick Rip-Off, a film noir-like thriller, ESCAPO, the tale of an Escape Artist's deal with death and more recently his stunning Batman 100 series!
He's worked with supreme Japanese publisher Kodansha on their wild and saucy Supertrouble, plus many other international publishers, not forgetting DC & Marvel. Pope's currently crafting Battling Boy, Total THB and Psychenaut. Three very different projects, all with that special PP treatment.
Drawing Spiderman, Batman and a cast of other heros & villains, he illustrates these tales beautifully but in many cases he's also a man with a story, having won a series of Eisner Awards for his published work.
His Psychenaut project which encompasses film sequences alongside a DJ set expands his creative output into a new realm, beyond the page. And with mega brands Diesel and DKNY queuing up for his slant we can expect more great work ahead!
